The Word

A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians…

Thanks be to God.

Group Action

There is a group action for everyone to participate in for our act of worship that will be followed up whenever we meet back as a community in our school. As you join us in completing this action we invite you to play the song the song below ‘Build your Kingdom Here’. Think about how we are building the kingdom of God in our very own school building as Christ remains at the center of everything we do.

Prayers of Intercession

Our schools and Church buildings are closed but our education and worship within our Church communities continues. We are praying at home, holding worship online and caring for neighbours, friends and family especially the most vulnerable.

Our Church is people, as the scripture says, we, the people, are God’s co-workers and Jesus is our foundation.

We are able to speak to God at any time, share the Good News at any time- a couple of reasons why Christianity is missionary.

1. We pray for the Church,

We pray for Pope Francis, Bishop Patrick and all our clergy who continue to support our schools and communities with their ministry. Lord protect them and keep them safe as they care in your name.

May we continue to stay connected as a Church by reaching out to one another and by spreading the Good News of the Gospel that gives us hope, comfort and joy.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

2. We pray for the world,

We pray for all who are affected by the coronavirus, through illness, isolation, or anxiety. We pray especially for the souls of those who have died recently, may they rest in peace.

We pray for every family member and friend that is experiencing loss during this time and ask that you grant our world with healing, strength and comfort.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

3. We pray for our world leaders,

May those who are guiding our nation and shaping national policies at this time be leaders of love, integrity and empowerment, recognising the dignity of each human in their care.

May they be filled with wisdom when making decisions, to protect us and keep us safe.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

4. We pray for all health professionals, carers and key workers who are working under huge pressure and strain during this time.

We ask that you keep them and their families safe and surround them with the love, strength and healing that they need.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

5.   We pray for the Suffering,

We pray for all those who are suffering – the poor, the hungry, the depressed, the abused, the lonely and the sick. May those who are faced with struggles and challenges be filled with courage, determination and your love.

May we be filled with wisdom and reach out to those in need by offering support, comfort and kindness.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

6. We pray for our school community,

As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the formal blessing of our new Becket school build we pray for the staff, students, families, clergy and governors of our past, present and future.

May Christ continue to be at the centre of everything we do in our school community and may our school always be a place of love, faith, support, enthusiasm and joy.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us

7. We pause to pray for our own intentions…

(Pause)

In this month of May, we remember Mary who is the Mother of Jesus and the Mother of us all.

We ask her to pray for us, and all of our intentions, as we say,

Hail Mary,

full of grace the Lord is with thee;

blessed art thou amongst women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
