Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!
Fitting in with the crowd!
When opportunity’s present themselves to share our faith through our words and actions, we quite often may stop and ask ourselves the following questions:
- What if I mess this up?
- What if I get it wrong?
- What if I look silly?
- What if people laugh at me?
We may also create an order in our minds of others that may be better and by the time we are finished we’ve put ourselves at the bottom.
The Church with a capital C!
“Christ is like a single body, which has many parts; it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts. In the same way, all of us, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether slaves or free, have been baptized into one body by the same spirit, and we have all been given the one spirit to drink”.
(Corinthians 12: 12-13)
We are all part of the body – The Body of Christ and no part is less important than any other. This passage goes on to give us this word picture of the human body parts.
Could you say that your ears are more valuable to you than your fingers? Or your stomach is more important than your kidneys?
All body parts matter and they have specific roles to play in keeping us alive and healthy. It’s the same for the Church.
God has called you to stand out, not to draw attention to yourself, but to draw attention to Jesus. You never know who will need the little bit of hope you offer when you show Christ’s love through your words and actions. We don’t all have to be the same in Church! It takes all kinds of people to make a world. Your personality and gifts will help guide you to your part in the Body of Christ. Not everyone will understand but that’s okay, because you have contributions to make right now, just be you!
Help our Church body to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have given us. Help us in all our interactions with one another to have humble and gentle hearts. Grant us patience for one another, bearing with one another in love. Grant the Body of Christ unity. May we continue to all walk humbly with you.
