Welcome Back! Sometimes being away from people makes you realise how much you appreciate them! So this week is about putting other people first!

Monday

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Read this piece of scripture from St Paul’s Letter to Philemon:

“I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers”

What does that mean for us? It means that we should be grateful for those we have in our lives, but not only that, it also that we should means that we should think of other people in our lives rather then focus on ourselves.

Morning Prayer: Lord, thank you for the gift of each other! Amen

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Think for a moment about the people who’ve made today good for you and give thanks for them.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Tuesday

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

A lot of Superhero’s do their best work in disguise. They put on a costume to hide their true identity, and focus solely on helping those around them! The really cool thing about superman, is that his cape and tights are not the disguise – the mild mannered reporter is. We might look ordinary on the surface but as Clark Kent shows us what we look like doesn’t have to disguise the hero within!

We’ve done secret missions in form time AOW before but this one is a mission of truly super hero proportions. Knowing that there is someone there for us, can sometimes inspire us to be there for someone else. So here’s what you have to do today!

Take a piece of paper for each member of your form and ask them to write their name on it. Then collect those names in and ask everyone to take another piece of paper when they leave for the day. Your job is to look out for and do something nice for that person, to be their superhero, knowing that somewhere there is someone doing something nice for you.

Morning Prayer: Lord help us to realise the power we have and the change we can make. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Did you manage to do something for the person you chose this morning? If you did then well done, if you haven’t yet then you can always ask God to look after them!

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Wednesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

So after a day of being someone’s personal superhero it’s time to start taking that idea a bit further.

In The Acts of the Apostles Peter is in Jail when an Angel sets him free by opening the door for him.

They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.  “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”

His only job after the door was opened was to go and tell others about what God had done. So our job is to open the door for people today, literally. Hold the door for as many people as you can and through this simple gesture  show other people what love is all about!

Morning Prayer: Lord, thank you for the doors you have opened for us in our lives. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day

Did you hold the door for someone today? If not there still plenty of time! Take a moment to think about and pray for those people who’ve been helpful to you today.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Thursday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

What makes a real hero? Is it strength? Is it speed? Or is it something that you can’t teach or train for?

Watch this clip from Captain America and think about what it tells us.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to understand what sacrifice really means. Amen

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the sign of the cross.

Did you have to sacrifice anything for anybody today? Or did anybody sacrifice something for you?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

 Friday

We start with the sign of the cross.

There’s another video today, but this is more about the every day heroes. Yes the music is cheesy but the message is a powerful one. Put other people first.

Morning Prayer: Lord,help us pass on the gift of love to those we meet. Amen

Prayer and the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

People pass love on to us in many different ways, think about those people who’ve made you smile and made you feel loved today.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
