This Sunday was Pentecost Sunday and we spent last week in our build up thinking about “The Message” and how easy it is to get that message to other people, just like the disciples did on that first day when they received the Holy Spirit. You will see in our Key Stage AOW how the message spread and hopefully be inspired to start sharing your own messages and sharing your on faith with other people.

Monday & Tuesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

BigQuestion750

This weeks Big question is so important we don’t want any one to miss it! So as Key Stage 3 will be in the Chapel on Monday you guys get to answer this on Tuesday – and of course be part of the video for this week!

The word inspiration means filled with the spirit. We remind ourselves of how our lives can be filled with the holy spirit at Pentecost, so it’s also a good time to remind ourselves of the things and people that inspire us too.

Today’s ‘Big Question’ is going to be a little different. First as we usually do, we are going to think about the question in form time. But then once we’ve shared our answers with each other, there is then going to be an opportunity to share it with the rest of the school for Thursday’s AOW. If you come down to the chapel Monday/Wednesday lunchtime you can share your answers on camera then we will see just what everyone has been talking about on Thursday morning!

So your question for today is this:

Who inspires you and why?!

Talk it through with each other and if you’re feeling brave share your answer with everyone!

God gave us the disciples and the saints to inspire us in our lives and he gives us people every day to guide us on our journey. When we are inspired we are filled with that same spirit that the disciples received at Pentecost.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to be inspired in our lives to be better people. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you been inspired today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Has anyone passed on something good to you today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Wednesday

flames

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

You’ve all given your little flames in the AOW to set the chapel on fire, but we want to see the fire all over school.

You’re job today is to make a fire for your form room window (not a real one obviously!) to celebrate the things that you can do to set the school alight. Get some orange or red paper and make some flames!

The disciples left their room and went out as different people, confident, brave and strong. When you leave your form room today what kind of people are you going to be? Can you be confident in who you are and what you do?

Decide what you think your form does best. Are you good listeners; are you good friends; do you look out for each other? What sets you apart as a form and makes you an inspiration to others?

Put that in your fire, then put your fire in your window!

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to set the world on fire with our gifts and talents. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

What has got you fired up today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Thursday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

I can’t believe how much fun I had editing this. I’d not seen any of the footage until it was all in, I had no idea what you’d said or how amazing you’d all been! Thank you for coming down and sharing who inspires you it is very inspiring!!

I know the video is a bit long (like 6 and half minutes) but I wanted to squeeze as many as I possibly could into the video and I’m really sorry if I’ve missed your clip out it wasn’t intentional I just had so many to cram in!

Any way, enjoy and be inspired!

Friday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

We always look at scripture on a Friday and today we’re looking at one of the letters of St Paul. Look at the image that he gives of the holy spirit. Have a read of the scripture and think about what he is calling us (and the recipient) to do. (Post it in the comments box below)

2 Timothy 1

6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.

It’s not an easy reading in places but scripture can talk to us in lots of different ways. St Paul and his friends didn’t have an easy time at the start of their ministry. It wasn’t always cool to be a Christian and they often faced imprisonment even death for their faith. Things aren’t that scary for us but it can still be difficult to tell others about what we believe.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us fan into flame the gifts you have given us. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

How have you used your gifts today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.
