Untitled-1It’s week four and lots of things have changed around school! Last week we said goodbye to our amazing Yr 13 & Yr 11 Students and our Yr 12’s have also gone on study leave too. As exam season approaches it’s going to feel a bit different with so many of our community away. It may, however, also feel like there is a new sense of opportunity. For the time being Yr 10 have the responsibility of being top of the school and staff and teachers alike are getting used to a new way of working for the summer.

Change and transformation are all part of life and very much part of the Easter experience. We see in both nature and scripture how death leads to life and new opportunities and challenges are always just around the corner. With that in mind the theme for this week is change and transformation.

Monday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have  a look at this:

This incredible video was Iceland’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. It stood out as not only an incredible song but also a call to change our world. We often forget that sometimes the most important transformations are the ones we bring about ourselves.

This song called for an end to prejudice in our world. Do you think that our world would be transformed if we stopped judging people and were a bit more open minded?

While the song is playing think and pray about something in the world you would like to change or transform and ask God to give you the strength to do so.

Lord, help us to transform our world for the better. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you thought about how you could transform our world for the better?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Tuesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

1Chair_Perspective_1000Changing our perspective can be a really powerful thing to do. It can help us understand a situation differently or help us appreciate something that we didn’t before. A lot of the Yr 11 and Yr 13 students who left last week all said that getting to the end of their year helped them look back on their time at school differently. It transformed their understanding of what they had experienced at The Becket.

To help us think about our theme of the week – Change and transformation – think about one thing as a form that you can do to change or transform your form time! You might want to all sit on the other side of the desks and face the opposite direction this morning. You might want to do the register backwards. You may even want to give someone else a chance to be the class teacher! What ever you decide to do, think about those things that it helps you see differently and think about what it helps you toappreciate.

Put down the things you’ve changed in the comments box below so you can see the transformations that everyone else is making. You can go back to normal tomorrow but maybe having one morning that’s a little bit different will help you see things differently in the future!

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to understand the changes in our lives. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you transformed anything today?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Wednesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

You challenge this morning is to think about the transformations that you want to make in your life. Thinking about the things we want to achieve, however small, can help us realise the ways we can make ourselves better.

date-for-diary~s600x600This morning, take our your diary and open it on the last day of term (Which is next Friday!) Think hard about something you want to change or transform before then. It could be that you want to transform a relationship and make us with someone you’ve fallen out with. It could be that you want to change your lunches to be a bit more healthy. It could even be that you want to change your attitude to make yourself more positive or more optimistic.

Write down your target and then think about how you can get there!

This morning is about realising that we can all transform our lives for the better – all we have to do is try. In the Bible we see so many people meeting Jesus and then making the decision to change something about their lives. Sometimes they become kinder, sometimes they give more to charity, sometimes they even change their life and become a disciple of Jesus like Saul did.

What transformation can you make?

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to make transformations in our lives so that we can be better people. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you transformed anything today?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Thursday

Use the Key Process of “Put yourself on the line” to explore the following statement. In our PSHCE topic of “Right and Wrong” we think a lot about whether a person can change or transform their life for the better. This statement is one that many people have different opinions on – what do you think?

A life sentence should mean life in prison with no chance of release.

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to understand how we can change and give us the strength to forgive others. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you noticed anything has changed at school this week?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Friday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Last week Year 11 and Year 13 both heard this piece of scripture from Ecclesiastes. It talks about a time of change and transformation and how God sees both past and future.

What gain have the workers from their toil? I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God’s gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil. I know that whatever God does endures for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done this, so that all should stand in awe before him. That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already is; and God seeks out what has gone by.

There is a brilliant line which says “I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live.” In a time of change, like this week in our community it’s important to remember to have fun and find the things which bring us joy. Spend a few moments thinking about how you can be happy and enjoy yourselves today.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to find the courage to share your message with others. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you found something to be happy about today?

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
