Monday

bigquestion

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

There’s a lot to take in about Lent and a lot of questions to think about. But I thought it be good if we started asking each other the things we want to know about Lent. So along with talking about today’s question post in the box below what questions you have about Lent and the Easter period and the best ones will make it into next weeks discussion!

With all that in mind the big questions to discuss in form time today is this:

Why is Lent called Lent? (Do some research and see what you find!)

What do you find hardest to understand about the events of Easter?

Morning Prayer: Lord, Help us to get closer to you on our journey through Lent. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you thought of something you want to know more about today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Tuesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

Every week during lent we are going to look at some of the Stations of the Cross. The Stations are images found in nearly every church and even our own chapel that help us understand a bit more about the Journey of Jesus during his passion and crucifixion  Each image gives us a chance to reflect on our our journey through life.

The first station – Jesus is condemned to death.

Click on the image above to enlarge.

Spend a few moments to reflect on what the image makes you think. Do we sometimes judge others unfairly?

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us not to judge other people. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you given people a chance to be themselves today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

March 21st is Lenten Fundraising day. A chance where we can come together as a school and raise some serious money for some serious issues. During lent were going to learn a bit more about what our money and our hard work is really for!

Lord, help us to give not just our money but our time and our energy too. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day:

We start with the sign of the cross.

How did you find the Service of Ashes?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Thursday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

Throughout Lent, Thursday is going to be a day of activity, where were going to do or make something to help our reflection and prayer during Lent.

The theme for CAFOD’s current campaign, as we saw yesterday is all about being “Hungry for change” so your task this morning is simple. Decide on one thing you want to change for the better in school and put a big sign in your window saying how you’re going to do it!

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to be the change we want to see in the world. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

How have you made a change for the better today?!

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

Friday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross

Luke 22:39-46

Common English Bible (CEB)

Jesus in prayer – During Lent our Friday literacy reflections we are going to look at different parts of the passion story. This extract is from the very beginning where Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane. He goes there with his friends to try and get him self ready for his arrest – he knows its going to happen. But when he gets there his friends find it hard to be there for him.

39 Jesus left and made his way to the Mount of Olives, as was his custom, and the disciples followed him. 40 When he arrived, he said to them, “Pray that you won’t give in to temptation.” 41 He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed. 42 He said, “Father, if it’s your will, take this cup of suffering away from me. However, not my will but your will must be done.” 43 Then a heavenly angel appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 He was in anguish and prayed even more earnestly. His sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground. 45 When he got up from praying, he went to the disciples. He found them asleep, overcome by grief. 46 He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray so that you won’t give in to temptation.”

Have a read of this and try to write what Jesus might have been feeling at this time in one line in the comments section below.

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to be there for those in need. Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

Have you been there for those who’ve needed you today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.
