real-valueWelcome back to the start of a new term, the term that will lead us all the way up until Christmas! But as we look forward it’s also important to look back to all the work we did last term and all the different way’s we explored the topic of identity.

We finished of course with the video that you all helped make so brilliant and seeing all of it come together made me think of what a get foundation it was for our next terms work.

This term is all about equality and understanding. It’s about looking at the different strands of our community and focusing on how we deal with our differences. It’s also going to be about looking at how we combat prejudices and tackle conflict.

This week then were going to start at the beginning and look at how we value others in our community.

Tuesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Some times we can’t do things on our own. An important step to valuing other people is starting with the people around us.

Watch this and have a think about how important the other people in your form are to you.

Prayer at the end of the day

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you noticed how important someone was to you today?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Wednesday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

For today’s AOW we are gong to ask you to get creative!

People often think that value is only defined in how much money something is worth, by what price tag you can put on it. But what price can you put on friendship?

You’re job today is to make a bank note – using a small piece of paper and instead of the usual pictures you find on them, put a picture of someone who is important to you.

Then, instead of the numerical value, put on it what you value about that person and then give the bank note to that person sometime today to show them that you truly value them!

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to realise what is truly important in life. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Prayer at the end of the day

We start with the Sign of the Cross.

Have you shown someone that you value them?

Father, give us faith
And help us to appreciate the things we cannot see.
Inspire in us not just a faith in you, but a faith in our family, our friends and ourselves.
Thank you for the strength that comes from your love;
Help me, when I am at my weakest, to find my faith again. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Friday

We Start with the Sign of the Cross.

One of the ways we value what other people have done is by remembering them and today is really special as we remember all the men and women of our church we call Saints.

Everybody is going to be celebrating mass and we’ve got a little task for you to do today in preparation.

If youtube isnt working at the moment then what we’d like you to do is take a peice of paper and write on it something you can “BE” Like Be awesome or be patient for example. The Gospel we’re going to hear today is often referred to as the Beatitudes. Jesus is telling us how we need to be to become saints!

Bring your piece of paper down with you to the chapel and we’ll use it during mass!

Morning Prayer: Lord, help us to give what we can and to give people their true value in our world. Amen.

We finish with the Sign of the Cross.
