The word of the week is Courage!

Courage is something we will all need to find in our lives. You may need the courage to face an exam or test, or maybe you’ll need the courage to say sorry and to seek forgiveness.

The Holy Spirit can give us courage when we need it the most, so think about the times and places where you need courage in your life at the moment and ask God to help you find that courage and move forward.

The word of the week is Courage.

“Have courage, go forward, make noise.” Pope Francis said these words to all young people in 2013. Pope Francis recognises the power of young people’s voices and calls us to be brave in our faith and to have courage to share God’s Word.

In 2018 a Synod of Bishops on “Young people, faith and vocational discernment” was held in the Vatican. A Synod is a religious meeting or assembly at which bishops meet together with the Holy Father and have opportunity to interact with each other and to share information and experiences.

So why did Pope Francis call a Synod of Bishops to talk about young people?

In the video below, University students from different countries read a letter with the answers of Pope Francis!

Spend some time thinking about where you can use your voice to make a difference to your life and the world around you.

As you say the prayer below, know that God is with you and has your back through every challenge you face.

“Making sense of it all”

We try to make sense of the issues affecting our world by turning to our faith.

Prayer during the Corona-virus pandemic

God of hope, love and mercy,

united in prayer with our global family,

we ask for quick control of the virus that is spreading in our world.

We pray for our sisters and brothers who are affected,

especially those in poor communities without healthcare.

Heal the sick, give eternal life to those who have died

and console families who have lost loved ones.

Help governments and health authorities

to make wise decisions for the good of everyone.

We pray that medicine for the sickness will be quickly found.

Hold us all in your merciful love.

Amen.

We start our prayer with the sign of the cross…

Sometimes we can feel like everything is getting too much or we can feel lost. We can ask God for courage and gain courage through God’s love and power.

In the song ‘Every giant will fall’ by Rend Collective we hear the lyrics “every giant will fall, every mountain will move” and “nothing is impossible with you”. We invite you to spend some time to reflect on these lyrics. What do you think they mean by giants? Are you facing any giants in your life?

This morning ask God for guidance and courage and tell Him any worries you have.
